    The Associate, Health Analytics reports directly to the Manager, Health Analytics and is responsible for performing a variety of analytical activities to support OH Toronto business units with their planning, monitoring, reporting, and performance measurement and evaluation responsibilities. As part of this role, the Associate, Health Analytics will analyze data, create reports and dashboards, assist in providing recommendations on actions required, and perform other tasks as required.

    Here is what you will be doing:

  • Extracts, analyzes and interprets data from various information databases (including health, social service, and related areas) to prepare reports for different stakeholders.
  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative analyses, such as literature reviews, environmental scans, and program evaluations, to synthesize information into written reports to support project and/or program goals, as required.
  • Prepares and disseminates a wide range of information and data analysis products in various formats including (but not limited to) reports, charts, graphs, maps, and population health profiles, while ensuring timeliness, consistency, data reliability, and integrity of information.
  • Facilitates the gathering of health resources utilization patterns for various performance measurement activities.
  • Researches, reviews and prepares reports on trends and issues that will enhance health system planning, analyses and reporting.
  • Supports various corporate reporting activities by updating dashboards and scorecards. May be asked to suggest explanation of observed patterns and recommendations for mitigation strategies where performance is not optimal.
  • Identifies relevant existing indicators and development of new indicators to measure system-wide aims and targeted local initiatives and projects.
  • Provides updates to key data holdings and/or information systems.
  • Provides support, as required, to Toronto Region planning staff, health service providers and other partners on initiatives and opportunities that will incorporate social determinants of health and health equity principles/priorities.
  • Participates on committees and cross functional teams that impact data analysis activities of OH Toronto.

  • Here is what you will need to be successful:

    Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Health Informatics, Health Administration, Epidemiology, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of analytics experience including experience preparing detailed analyses and working with performance indicators/scorecards.
  • Experience designing and developing standard and ad hoc reports for both internal and external purposes.
  • Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of local health issues, priorities and needs, and broader trends in health care system.
  • Experience in working with large data sets, including manipulation, cleaning, merging and blending data sets.
  • Beneficial to have knowledge/familiarity with various health related databases and information systems used to capture information in various health sectors (e.g. IntelliHealth, iPort, Statistics Canada).
  • Project planning and organizational skills to coordinate the retrieval, analysis and integration of health care information from internal/external sources to meet deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Advisory skills to provide advice, expertise and recommendations to internal team members on arising issues on health service planning and issues for various projects.
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methodology including knowledge syntheses and report preparation and writing.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint), exposure to statistical/analytic, Business Intelligence, and data visualization software including SAS, SPSS, ArcGIS-mapping, PowerBI, and Tableau beneficial.
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills to present and report data findings to various cross-functional teams and external stakeholder audiences.
  • Analytical, evaluation and problem solving skills to analyze data/information and related systems to ensure integrity of information, resolve any data quality issues, and ensure adherence to privacy and best practice guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health care reporting requirements and funding methodologies is beneficial.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, teamwork and relationship building skills.
