The Concrete Foreman supports the site by overseeing field related concrete structure activities as directed by either the Assistant Superintendent or the Superintendent.
Following all Marcon policies and procedures and demonstrating a high level of safety, this role will lead by example and promote Marcon's Core Values in all site activities.
About the RoleGeneral
- Support the Superintendent to ensure progress, site cleanliness and quality are all maintained;
- Review Superintendents schedule and understand priorities;
- Microschedule all tasks that you are managing (whiteboard, in priority sequence including start and finish dates);
- Support CSO's efforts for maintaining high safety culture on site
SOG
- Assist with management of water during detail excavation including temp sump locations, hose routes and pump locations
excavation contractor manages water until first finished pad is turned over)
- Schedule gravel deliveries, quantity needed and all aspects of
SOG Prep - Maintain accurate log on X Drive via electronic Tracking sheet for concrete and gravels
- Assist in
SOG Prep, ensuring all final and sub grades are marked on the walls and columns and they are accurate and work as per the design - Liaise with Geo technical inspector for sub grade. Call and schedule inspections
- Understand criteria for sub grade and ensure ground is prepared for inspection
- Ensure correct compaction is achieved. Review Geo tech report for specifications on compaction and material used for import
- Work with the plumber to ensure his underground piping is done in an orderly fashion and inspected before covering
- Ensure all Catch Basins and Clean-Outs are at correct elevation
External Inspections:
- Call, schedule and assist with all inspections and during site visits, walk with inspectors, inclusive of Rebar; Geo Tech; Envelope; City; Tester for compaction
- Read reinforcing drawings and ensure compliance before inspections
- Ensure formwork contractor provides prepour inspections to CSO
Internal Inspections:
- Inspect and monitor concrete quality, plumb, level, square and correct location per drawings;
- Inspect to ensure all cambers are correct
- Check all new formwork has been inspected for first time use by TNAI
Concrete specifics:
- Book tester for concrete, liaise to ensure no issues arise
- Check all mix designs to ensure correct placement in the elements you are pouring
- Consult with Superintendent for any Mix design changes
- All suspended slab perimeters must be checked prior to pour for level and straight. Post pour to be rechecked once shoring is removed
- Slabs to be checked day after pour with 10' straight edge while Trades lay out vertical, or the high of, pour if concrete can be walked on
- Quantify, order and balance all concrete
- Monitor crane time and deliveries. Ensure all trades get their scheduled Lifts
- Check quality of sacking understand various sacking needs throughout the site
- Keep track of concrete pour dates (use a large format drawing on your office wall)
- Understand basic envelope details
- Assist with scheduling all envelope inspections
- Ensure envelope details on the drawing are being used and done correctly
- Monitor water egress from the top of the tower to lower floors. Seal floors as needed and order water proofing materials as needed (i.e. Kryton, Bentonite, water stop etc.).
- Keep your office clean, tidy and well organised
- Keep a daily task sheet for yourself and your crew
- Ensure tracking for tools/cords/Marcon equipment
- Ensure accuracy of paperwork including proper completion of purchase orders (note: Purchase Orders are required for all materials such as Poly, tape, Donnaconna, concrete, gravels, waterproofing, rentals, testers etc. liaise with Super for the order of these items).
- Rent items as needed and keep track so they can be cancelled in a timely manner (consult with the Super for all rental item approvals)
- Update and Populate logs; Concrete; Imports Gravel
- Use Procore to communicate Trades issues and quality i.e. sacking and concrete; quality
- Able to operate bobcat as needed to unload delivers and stand in for operator during
SOG prep if necessary - Follow Marcon policies and procedures and lead by example
