Position Overview:


  • Performs ophthalmic diagnostic procedures within the scope of Ophthalmic Assistant Certification. Performs ophthalmic photographic services and the necessary documentation for the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders.

Experience:


  • One (1) to two (2) years of work experience under ophthalmological supervision required.
  • Experience as an ophthalmic photographer or related experience in this area preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Grade 1
  • Introductory photography course required or an equivalent combination of photography education, training and experience.
  • It is recommended that, at minimum, staff possess the Family & Friends category of BLS training.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (J.C.A.H.P.O.) Certification required.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Proficiency in computer/word processing required.
  • Works within the Centre's core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures.
  • Must be mature and capable of working under mínimal supervision.
  • Must show initiative, good judgement, the ability to train, provide instruction, organize his/her work.
  • Must be a team member working cooperatively, courteously and tactfully with patients, hospital personnel and the community.
  • Ability to speak and understand French is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic pharmacology required.
  • Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.

  • Physical health to meet the requirements of the position.
