Position Summary:


The incumbent is responsible for contacting new business prospects and cross-marketing Center for Business (CfB) programs to existing employers and partners.

This is accomplished by meeting and exceeding specific targets as determined by the annual goals of the CfB Partnerships office.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conducts outreach campaigns with the intent of generating additional employment opportunities for coop and graduating students.
  • Manages incoming partnership inquiries with the goal of converting interested inquiries into experiential and work integrated learning opportunities.
  • Provides employers with information about students' technical capabilities and about Field Education programs.
  • Persuades employers to hire students from the Center for Business (CfB) by using a wide range of business skills, including client relationship management, problem solving, negotiation and sales closing approaches.
  • Schedules facetoface meetings/presentations with external industry contacts from a variety of major economic sectors including business, government, notforprofits, associations, etc.
  • Documents information obtained from all employer communications in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database, e.g. ORBIS.
  • Updates information in the CRM database as changes to employer information occur, such as new or different contacts, closures, acquisitions, etc.
  • Schedules meetings with primary employer contacts to ensure continuous hiring of Center for Business (CfB) students and maintain strong relationships.
  • Conducts employer followup to resolve issues or provide further information when concerns or requests regarding Field Education or another aspect of the College are identified on the employer evaluation.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:


  • Threeyear diploma/degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Human Resource Management (Recruitment/Selection or Talent Management focus desirable), or a liberal arts degree with a focus on Psychology or Communications.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in sales, business development, or job development (preferably as a representative of a postsecondary institution) marketing the students and programs to the business, nonprofit, association and government sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding the expectations of employers and communicating them to students.
**Skills and Attributes: - Demonstrated ability to conduct labour market analysis, develop and implement marketing and sales strategies and execute on the plan.

  • Demonstrated success in soliciting potential employers through various creative networking and partnering strategies.
  • Professional level business writing skills, including regular proposal and report writing.
  • A high level of empathetic communication skills to deal with students with English as a Second Language (ESL).
  • Demonstrable prospecting, presentation and selling skills to succeed in securing Work Experience opportunities, including positions for large numbers of students within a very competitive market.
  • Excellent liaison skills, diplomacy, and professional demeanour.
  • Demonstrated communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and teamwork skills at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.

  • The College requires proof of degrees, credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal postsecondary institutions and/or their international equivalents. Credentials may require validation at the time of interviews or offer.
  • First consideration will be provided to regular part time (RPT) support staff in accordance with the part time Support Staff Collective Agreement.
