The Human Resources Coordinator

  • HR Management Support will work on department projects/priorities to promote and develop effective Human Resources practices and department procedures for the best interests of all employees within Karis Disability Services. Under the coaching and mentorship of the Director of Human Resources and Human Resources Business Partners, the Human Resources Coordinator
  • HR Management Support role will assist in uploading HR documents to employee files, editing HR letters, providing health and safety resources to districts, researching HR best practice and legislative requirements for the team, comparing policy and collective agreements, providing recommendations for improvements, creating/delivering presentations, pulling together data for reports, organizing HR resources and assisting the department with various projects.

Responsibilities:


  • Assist HR Business Partners in projects relating to their specialties (Labour Relations, Conflict Management, Leadership Development, Health and Safety, HR Resource and Job Description Management).
  • With the support of the HR Business Partner team, communicate with and support districts, answer policy questions, provide template letters, explain established processes, summarize documents into timelines of events, and create termination calculations.
  • Serve as an active member of the Waterloo Office Health and Safety Committee or another organizational committee and perform administrative work and tasks related to that role.
  • Partner with the Workplace Learning department to ensure policy statements on the Learning Management System are up to date and match HR reviewing requirements.
  • Update HR letters and forms that become outdated or need language changes to align with new legal precedents, legislative requirements, and changes to practice within the organization.
  • Manage the organization and flow of the HR Management files in the HR drive and booking of team meetings.
  • Conduct research and provide information and ideas to the HR Management team relating to projects, legal matters, HR issues, etc.
  • Participate in HR Management team meetings, sharing ideas for process improvements or resolving problems.
  • Create data reports and populate quarterly key performance indicator reports for the Director and VP of HR.
  • Research and draft policy revisions as required with direction provided by the Director of Human Resources and Human Resources Business Partners.
  • Identify, review, and research applicable articles in the respective Collective Agreement(s) for HR Business Partners as requested.

Requirements:


  • One year of previous similar HR experience, performing similar duties
  • University or College Diploma in Human Resources
  • CHRP or in active pursuit of CHRP is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to organize time, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills, including demonstrated experience with Office 36
  • Working knowledge of Employment Standards, Labour Relations, Health & Safety legislation, and HR best practices
