Responsibilities:
- Plan and organize shipping and receiving of goods, ensuring deadlines are met
- Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping; accurately prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents manually or by computer
- Schedule/coordinate with carriers to move freight as required
- Assemble containers and crates
- Wrap, band or pack product for shipping as per docket instructions
- Record contents manually or in computer system, pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions
- Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks or other conveyances
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices, way bills or other documents
- Sign, date and time stamp all documents as received
- Verify counts received match the Packing Slips
- Record shortages and reject damaged goods
- Photograph damaged goods and report to supervisor
- Provide samples of incoming products to the Customer Service department
- Unpack, code and route received goods to appropriate storage areas
- Store product in an organized manner to be able to easily locate any items in storage
- Maintain internal, manual or computerized recordkeeping systems
- Operate forklift to load, unload, transport and store goods
- Keep informed of job status, monitoring workflow schedule as it affects shipping/receiving, communicating with Customer Services and Production Manager
- Keep workplace tidy and traffic areas clear, stack skids, tops and end boards
Expectations:
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent hands on experience in a production environment required
- Experience in a related clerical occupation or as a warehouse worker
MUST HAVE:
Forklift certificate required - Tow Motor License:
- Clamp experience an asset.
- Be flexible with regards to extra shifts and possible short term changes to accommodate client demands and staff vacations and absences
- Must be detail oriented to accurately complete required documentation
- Must be able to prioritize work efficiently and multitask at a demanding pace in a deadlinesensitive environment
- Must be able to think ahead, trouble shoot and follow a job through to successful completion
- Physically demanding, walking, bending, heavy lifting
