What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the General Manager, the Commercial Manager is responsible for the operational and financial performance of the electrical projects in a designated region.

As the Commercial Manager, you will establish customer relations and business opportunities for the company and support those opportunities with your technical expertise and knowledge of the local market.

hat You'll Do Here:


  • Proactively seek out new opportunities.
  • Support Estimating as required attend project specific technical and commercial meetings; review tender documents for technical requirements and ensure bid compliance; close tenders with Estimating leadership.
  • Identify project concerns proactively and alert management of potential risks on assigned projects.
  • Provide technical and commercial input on how to minimize and mitigate project impacts.
  • Assist in acquiring talent and retention to support Major Projects including Superintendents, union trade staff, etc.
  • Assist in the sourcing and recommendation of vendors/manufacturers, subcontractors & Equipment to support Major Projects.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including other departments within Aecon, Joint Venture Partners (schedulers, designers/engineers, lawyers, estimators), external stakeholders (manufacturers, vendors, Municipalities, Utility Owners ), as well as other divisions of Aecon.
  • Responsible for the financial performance of a designated region including the development of an annual business plan and the ongoing management of the financial performance to ensure business plans targets are being met or exceeded.
  • Provides overall direction to ensure that bidding strategy is implemented to optimize revenue and margin to meet divisional targets.
  • Reports issues to General Manager regarding financial performance, workload status, potential legal issues and potential opportunities.
  • Promotes project profitability, schedule adherence and customer satisfaction.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, unions.
  • Maintains personal contact with major clients and unions.
  • Ensures that all activity in the designated regions is consistent with corporate and divisional strategic plans, business plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure that contracts are kept current and being updated with change orders on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Proficient in both English and French written/verbal.
  • Technical background with professional accreditation (P.Eng./ CET) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Registered as a licensed Electrician in Quebec is an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience including operational leadership experience.
  • College/University education is
