Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:


Reporting to the Program Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of secretarial and administrative support to the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre.

The incumbent will maintain a line of accountability to their assigned areas in matters relating to the day to day functions of the position.

This position provides administrative and secretarial support to a multi-disciplinary team. These functions are undertaken consistent with the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre's established philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures.


Experience:


  • Two (2) years secretarial experience in a health/medical related environment
  • Experience with medical transcription as well as medical terminology preferred

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Grade XII or recognized equivalent
  • Formal training in applied office skills is required with an understanding of medical terminology

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Ability to understand somewhat complex situations, determine courses of action and respond in a professional manner
  • Experience maintaining a records management system, including classifying and coding electronic and hardcopy files
  • Word processing (40 wpm) and excellent typing and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Databases and Adobe
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information using a balanced, unbiased approach to performance of job duties including:
  • the ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- good interpersonal and written communication skills
- good organizational and time management skills
- the ability to maintain accuracy, organize heavy workloads under pressure, and meet deadlines while multi-tasking
- the ability to follow directions closely and accurately, and the ability to work with initiative
- the ability to deal effectively with the difficult behaviors sometimes exhibited by people in distress
- the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision or as part of a team
- the ability to provide a variety of administrative duties

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
