Our composting facility in Abbotsford is currently seeking an
Operations Manager - General Manager to join our talented and dedicated team.

This position will suit someone who is a professional engineer or an operations manager with a well-developed technical background (a combination of experience and education).

The Position

• Maintain a safe workplace by ensuring employee training is monitored and maintained
• Ensure safe execution and handling of composting and oversight of organic waste management processes
• Implement effective processes and execute tasks required to maintain compliance with the Facility's permits, the BC Environmental Management Act (EMA) and Organic Matter Recycling Regulation (OMRR) and other applicable regulations
• Develop and manage the annual operating budget to ensure safety and that reliable operational costs are met
• Identify and address root causes of variances from the established budget
• Nurture a culture of continuous Improvement to develop, share, and implement best practices
• Collaborate with the senior leadership team to create facility processes and policies that are aligned with and support the overall strategic plan
• Contribute to the vision, mission, and strategic development for all current and future composting operations
• Ensure key performance indicators for department are met and develop best practices to maximize potential
• Prepare weekly production reports and monthly continuous improvement reports in advance of the scheduled meetings
• Maintain schedules of staff and compost operations
• Conduct site tours on a daily basis (Monday to Friday) and participate in the oncall routine which may require afterhours and weekend checks of the facility

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing personnel in a process or manufacturing environment
• Preference will be given to individuals with a post secondary degree in Engineering who are eligible for membership in Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
• Strong technical knowledge and experience in the composting industry would be considered an asset
• Knowledge and experience in the implementation of business processes such as Performance Management, Team Development, Reliability Centered Maintenance, and/or Lean Manufacturing is an asset
