Summary:


  • Secondary and/or postsecondary education in a related field or a minimum of one year experience in the landscape industry or a similar role with flexibility for further training.
  • Experience in completing basic lawn and grounds maintenance tasks; grass cutting, gardening, eaves trough cleaning, edging, pruning, snow and ice removal, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in completing light home maintenance and repair tasks
  • Safe operation of equipment; lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, back pack blowers, snow blowers, etc.
  • A valid Gclass driver's license with 3 years of experience and a clean drivers abstract and the ability to operate a truck and trailer are essential
  • Ability to meet our insurance requirements
  • Ability to lead a small crew of Home Maintenance Workers
  • Ability to follow direction, work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and multi task as well as be flexible and adaptable to changes in daily schedules
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs and perform the physical aspects of the job
  • Willingness to work on an oncall basis in the winter season
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Access to own vehicle and tools is not required but considered an asset
  • Access to an IOS or Android data equipped smartphone
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset
  • Current Working at Heights/Fall Protection Training Certification or willingness to complete training within 6 months of hire
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance issued by local police station, within 1 month of offer of employment
  • Assist seniors and adults with a disability with outdoor lawn and grounds maintenance
  • Conduct inhome and outdoor grounds assessments as required
  • Operate machinery associated to home maintenance tasks as required (i.e. truck snow plow, snow blowers, lawnmowers, hand and power tools, etc.)
  • Have flexibility with work scheduling and be available to work up to 88 hours biweekly
  • Communicate efficiently with the Coordinator, Home Maintenance Services
  • Participate in scheduled team meetings and training sessions as required
  • Have access to safety boots and weather appropriate clothing
  • Adhere to safety and housekeeping procedures
  • Provide services in keeping with Better Living Health and Community Services' Mission, Vision and Beliefs and Client Declaration of Values
  • Adhere to the principles and expectations outlined in the Code of Conduct
