Reporting to the President, you will work as our Safety Manager, and staff in the office and on worksites


Responsibilities include the following:

  • Conducting incident and near miss investigations, identifying root causes, and determining methods to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Facilitating employee compliance with safety rules, policies, safe work practices, safe work procedures, and codes of practice.
  • Participating in annual COR audits and ongoing reviews of program HSE documentation.
  • Assisting in the identification, evaluation, control, and monitoring of safety hazards in the workplace through preparation of hazard assessments, safety plans, policies, procedures, and inspections.
  • Conducting health and safety committee, staff, and group meetings to provide health and safety information, guidance, and advice.
  • Supporting strategies that drive safety performance and being proactive to ensure continuous improvement of the health and safety program.
  • Ensuring that suitable personal protective equipment and other safety equipment is available and maintained in good condition.
  • Conducting regular formal office and site inspections
  • Updating safety bulletins throughout the offices, conducting safety meetings, and sending safety communications on a regular basis.
  • Lead various Health & Safety meetings such as Joint Health and Safety Committee, 6S Audit, First Aid Team.
  • Establish and maintain Health and Safety Management System compliant to ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Conduct annual Health & Safety internal audits and support Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits.
  • Provide support and training to create and sustain Hazard Assessments in all areas.
  • Support the recording and investigation of nearmisses and incidents.
  • Perform audiometric screening and respiratory fit tests as per OHS regulations.
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, inspection, and sustainment of 6S (5S+Safety) program with Manufacturing and other teams.
  • Coordinate the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) program.
  • Update and maintain Health and Safety manual and Health and Safety statistics.
  • Maintain updated Health and Safety training for all levels of employees.
  • Maintain Health and Safety related documentation including SDS catalogue.
  • Review and coordinate the Injury Free Event (IFE) entries, support Operations with implementation and verify completion.
  • Manage and update the clients Health and Safety requirements through the contractor management platforms such as ISNetworld.
  • Conduct New Hire and other related orientations.
  • Other tasks as may be applicable or assigned by the QEHS Manager5+ years of experience in Safety Program development preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with WCB practices/processes.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Knowledge of the Incident Management processes which includes incident reporting, corrective action, investigation and analysis, and incident closure.
  • Ability to multitask and deal with changing priorities.
  • Ability to liaise with all levels of the organization.
  • Familiar with Alberta Transportation rules and guidelines
  • Meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Professional certification as CSO, NCSO, CHSC, or Occupational Health and Safety certificate is preferred.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of a postsecondary Certificate, Degree, or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • 5+ years of related, progressively responsible experience.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Designations are an asset.
  • Experience conducting a COR Audit is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OH&S Act, Regulations, and Code, and the Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, observation, and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel within Alberta.
As a member of the Health and Safety team you are responsible for the Driver Development & Compliance program.


You will provide mentorship and support to our current and future Commercial Drivers via hands on approach coaching, instructing, and communicating best-in-class practices, Company Standards & Policies, and up-to-date legislative requirements to ensure total compliance.


With a proven ability to facilitate the learning and commitment to safety & compliance excellence in both classroom and on-the-road environments.
