The purpose of this position is to develop and maintain safety systems aligned with the HEPI Group and make recommendations to establish best practice standards for the Company.


The position will achieve this by fostering a "safety culture" by engaging personnel at all levels and drive the success of safety, health and environmental initiatives throughout H-E Parts North American operations (Canada Locations).


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Coordinate all health, safety and environmental related programs for H-E Parts International
  • Support and mentor HSRs and drive Safety Committees
  • Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety, health and environment programs.
These will include, but not limited to:


  • Hazard ID Program
  • Exposure Control Program (Blood Borne Pathogens)
  • Hazard Assessment and Personal Protective Equipment Program (PPE)
  • Respiratory Protection Program
  • Chemical Hygiene Plan
  • Hazard Communication Program
  • Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO)
  • Emergency Action Plan, including emergency procedures, first response, First Aid/CPR/AED training
  • MSD Material update for facilities
  • Coordinate all safety and environmental training programs
  • Provide weekly safety topics for departmental review
  • Develop new hire orientation and safety training for all HEPI facilities
  • Support and coordinate all investigations following safety incidents to determine root cause
  • Work with department leaders to develop corrective actions for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate safety, health and environmental walkthrough inspections for all HEPI facilities
  • Ensure corporate compliance with all applicable safety, environment and health government rules and regulations
  • Maintain required safety, health and environmental documents, data systems and files
  • Support and coordinate monthly reporting on Injury Frequency Rates for all Reportable injuries
  • Keep up to date on current and upcoming government safety, health and environmental regulations
  • Provide administrative and direct support for workers' compensation, injury management and return to work programs
  • Annually review the HEPI Safety Plan
  • Support all Health and Wellness initiatives
  • Annually review and revise the H-E Parts International Safety Manual
  • Provide advice to all levels of the organisation across all matters related to HSE
  • Establish and maintain honest and transparent relationships with all Stakeholders
  • Support and maintain International Standards Organisation (ISO) compliance, by maintaining the internal and external audit program, along with collating and tracking audit findings
  • Proactively follow and promote the company Core Values, HSEQ Strategy and HSEQ Plan on a Page (PoP)
  • Undertake Risk Assessments and help facilitate Risk Register Review workshops
  • Educate other employees on the Company Risk Tools i.e Hazard IDs, OHAs, Risk Assessments
  • Travel to other branches to roll out company initiatives and conduct regular audits/area inspections
  • Other duties as may be assigned
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Position requires collaboration with Department Managers, Regulators and C - Level Suites


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


  • A results-oriented safety professional with highly effective interpersonal skills and in-depth knowledge of safety best practices, as well as federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations
2. 4-5 Years' Experience in safety-related duties with understanding of Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.


  • Proven skill in working with co-workers and maintaining working relations between departments
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Intermediate computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have the ability to organize work and meet deadlines
  • Position will require overnight/s travel to Richmond, BC Facility.
