    Position Summary
  • Reporting to the Executive Director Foundation and Director Advancement (ED), the Associate Director contributes to the development of integrated Foundation strategies and to fundraising success by providing day to day leadership and management for special campaigns, fundraising appeals, and stewardship initiatives. The Associate Director is responsible for developing, leading and implementing regular and specialized campaigns and collaborates with members of the College's leadership team, key institutional stakeholders and community partners.
  • This position is an essential point of contact between donors, prospective donors and alumni to realize philanthropic, marketing and business development opportunities, as well as sponsorship and strategic marketing initiatives focused on revenue generation. May act for the Executive Director as required.
    Duties & Responsibilities

1. Strategic and Operational Planning Leadership and Management

  • Works with the ED to develop strategic plans and ensures effective operations of the Foundation while communicating and meeting the College's overarching strategies, expectations and standards.
  • Develops operating structures, policies and procedures for the Foundation.
  • Ensures clear and effective communication within the department. Assists the ED in leading meetings, including management meetings.
  • Represents the department on various internal and external committees as needed. Liaises with related areas in the college.

2.
Fundraising Leadership and Support

  • Under the general direction of the ED, facilitates, coordinates and delivers various fundraising strategies, events and activities to foster donor cultivation and to secure leadership gifts of $100K+, with a focus on building a major gifts pipeline of $25K and higher.
  • Develops and implement a planned giving strategy to meet college goals and objectives.
  • Plans and coordinates needed resources required for successful fundraising campaigns and appeals and their evaluations.
  • Ensures all development programs and campaigns are in place and kept on a deadlinedriven timetable to maintain, grow and evolve good relations with the College's donors.
  • Develops and implements tailored action plans, solicitation strategies and proposals for each prospect.

3. Financial and Operational Management

  • In consultation with the ED, supports the development of the Foundation's budget for revenue targets and forecasting.
  • Provides oversight of fundraising budgets and expectancy reports using appropriate reporting tools and metrics.
  • Provides oversight of fundraising programs, and projects, while ensuring accountability and monitoring and adherence to budget/granting targets with partner departments.
  • Approves and oversees program related expenses where appropriate.

Community and Partnership Development:


  • Identifies and leads the development of new partnerships and business opportunities in collaboration with the ED, and other key stakeholders.
  • Creates, builds and maintains positive relationships with donors, key external stakeholders and community partners.
  • Leads and develops a prospect management process to identify, qualify, evaluate, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects.
  • Leads and develops a donor recognition and stewardship process, that supports the creation of a pipeline of potential major gift donors. This includes creation of policies and procedures, as well as agreements and contracts.

Human Resources Management

  • Fosters a positive organizational environment that encourages highly engaged staff.
  • Supervises staff and reassigns or delegates authority to employees on a temporary or permanent basis to meet fluctuating workloads.
  • Facilitates optimal teamwork and collaboration to meet desired service levels.
  • Participates in the selection and evaluation of staff based on the appropriate policies, procedures and collective agreements.
