YOUR MISSION

Event design:

• Integrate the CDS creative vision into all projects;
• Work closely with the Creative Director on the identification and selection of the design team;
• Establish and implement the creative proposal (concept), communicating it to all designers and artists;
• Direct the development, and sometimes execution, of concepts with the various design teams (set design, costumes, lighting, projection, choreography, music, sound, human performance, puppetry, props, acting, etc.) responding to the project brief;
• Feed, guide and comment on the work of each designer using the "Work in Progress" creative process, with the aim of harmonizing all elements of the show;
• Participate in the development of the performance skeleton, choice of disciplines, selection of artists and distribution of roles for the show/project;
• Together with the Creative Director, approve plans, models, sketches and other proposals from designers;
• Create, when necessary, visuals for presentation to clients, while respecting the artistic direction requested;
• Lead and facilitate research workshops, direct and guide the work of the rehearsal team, and make any necessary adjustments;
• Provide dramaturgical writing and metaphorical content for the production;
• Direct rehearsals, preparatory workshops and diver
• Direction of rehearsals, preparatory workshops and the various stages of project staging;
• Modify and refine staging as show/project production progresses;
• Respect the parameters and deadlines related to the design and delivery of the project;
• Provide all necessary creative documentation (script, artistic bible, staging notes, etc.).
• The Event Designer may also be called upon to call the show/event.

Concept development:

• Develop concepts based on customer brief;
• Contribute to the writing and graphic design of the presentation;
• Be comfortable presenting concepts in English / French;
• All other related tasks.

At the creative department operations level:

• Attend & participate in Creative Department team and creative meetings;
• Participate in brainstorming and other meetings relevant to the development of the department or projects;
• Research and monitor relevant fields for references, inspiration, understanding of market trends, etc.
• All other related tasks.

Skills & knowledge

• Ability to imagine, develop and communicate innovative creative concepts
• Strong leadership skills, ability to inspire a creative team
• Ability to collaborate and work within a multidisciplinary and intra-departmental team.
• Proactivity, sense of initiative and responsibility
• Understanding of the gesture and the creative process as a whole
• Flexible and able to manage several projects at once
• Ability to work under pressure
• Methodical, meticulous and efficient

YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE

• 2 years' experience as a director or event designer.
• Excellent communication skills, bilingual French/English, oral and written
• Ability to communicate ideas and work with those of others;
• Ability to work on a multi-project basis and adapt quickly to unforeseen circumstances and changes;
• Strong leadership demonstrated by past experience
• Ability to unite and align a multidisciplinary team around an artistic vision
• Knowledge of Microsoft tools, Indesign, video editing software, an asset.
• Ability to travel
