Purpose

Support the AML Compliance team in implementing a culture of anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing compliance to ensure VGW Holdings Limited and its related entities (
VGW) are able to mitigate money laundering and funding of terrorism (
ML/FT) risk and comply with applicable global legal, regulatory and compliance obligations. The Compliance Officer Team Lead will be responsible for leading a small team that supports our fast-growing North American operations while closely collaborating with, and reporting into, the global AML Compliance team.


Responsibilities:


Provide real-time support and advice:


  • Offer guidance and expertise to customerfacing staff on financial crime matters, including guidance on antifinancial crime policies and procedures, enhanced customer due diligence, suspicious activity reporting.
  • Assist in resolving compliancerelated queries and issues.
  • Stay uptodate on evolving regulatory requirements and internal processes and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure consistent practices that balances effective risk mitigation against customer experience.

Investigate and manage complex cases:


  • Lead enhanced due diligence investigations within certain customer segments.
  • Manage high risk investigations and collaborate with internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist in investigations into suspicious transactions and potential moneylaundering investigations.

Implement improvements to existing processes:


  • Identify areas for enhancement in current compliance processes, particularly in the areas of enhanced customer due diligence and interaction with customerfacing staff.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Ensure compliance processes align with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of process changes.

Prepare and deliver training for North American teams

  • Design and develop training programs on AML Compliance and financial crime prevention.
  • Deliver comprehensive and uptodate training to North American teams.
  • Cover regulatory requirements, internal policies and best practices.

Governance and record keeping:


  • Understand VGW's business and its points of difference in the market that impact its Anti-Financial Crime program.
  • Identify breaches of AML policies and procedures and escalate them as soon as possible.
  • Assist with the development of policies and procedures, internal and external audits and other matters as directed.

Team management:


  • Support, manage and mentor team members based in Canada, assigning work and ensuring team members have what they need to succeed.
  • Ensure each AML team member in Canada clearly understands their objectives and their roles and responsibilities.
  • Foster learning and development in the team and impart own learnings to the wider team.

Other duties as required:


  • Support the global AML Compliance team proactively.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as necessary.
  • Adapt to the evolving needs of the organization and AML Compliance team.

Qualifications, skills & experience:


  • 34 years US BSA or Canadian PCMLTFA compliance experience.
  • CAMS (or equivalent) certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in financial crime compliance, with a focus on regulations and best practices in the North American region.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to investigate and resolve complex financial crime cases.
  • Proven track record in people management, including managing a team, providing performance feedback, conducting performance evaluations, coaching and team development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training programs on AML Compliance and financial crime prevention.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders within the organization.
  • Flexibility to work in a global environment and collaborate effectively with the global financial crimes compliance teams based in other jurisdictions. This includes accommodating different time zones, adjusting schedules as needed and being adaptable to crosscultural dynamics.
