Professional Practice Consultant - Occupational Therapy

The Professional Practice Consultant (PPC) facilities the development of structures, systems and resources to support and advance professional practice.

The Professional Practice Consultant, working with other members of the Practice team, is responsible for the development, monitoring and evaluation of evolving standards of the practice within an interdisciplinary care model.

The role also collaborates with leadership and professional staff to ensure the integration of practice standards in program design, resource planning and allocation, and in the delivery of patient-centered care.

Each PPC will be assigned to several clinical portfolios to provide primary support.

In addition to the above responsibilities, each PPC may be involved in the following:

  • Professional Development & Education
  • Research & Innovation
  • Recruit Evaluation
  • Evaluation of Supplies and Technology/Equipment
Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay:
$47.85 per hour - $59.81 per hour

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week


Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Current membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and/or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent related experience
  • Demonstrated record of strong, positive leadership in the respective profession
  • Experience functioning in a multidisciplinary health care environment
  • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational and professional directions from a staff position
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in program development, evaluation, and education
  • Eligibility for crossappointment with the Faculty of Health Sciences
  • Evidence of proficiency in estalishing interpersonal relationships, consensus building, conflict resolution, consultation and coaching/mentoring
  • Knowledge of current professional practice issues and care delivery systems
  • Demonstrated research and research facilitation expertise
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Office, internet and literature searches
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:
Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
  • Provide proof of Health Canadaapproved COVID19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health's current definition of being fully vaccinated
