This is an excellent opportunity to manage the facility with regards to planning labour and revenue, analyzing financials and establishing and ensuring the operations team meet established targets.

This includes labour management, productivity, Health & Safety, Customer Service and Associate Retention goals as outlined by Senior Management to meet Company and Customer goals.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and motivates direct reports (Supervisors and Team Leads) to accomplish established Operational goals / metrics; ensure they have the support needed to manage their departments.
  • Own and develop plans for promoting team collaboration and accountability by motivating and leading teams to achieve the objectives of the company.
  • Drives employee engagement through floor presence.
  • Monitor shift start and shift end reports to maintain punctuality.
  • Daily pre shift meetings with the team to focus on productivity and priorities.
  • Implement and monitor loss prevention initiatives.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; ensuring that staff follows good housekeeping and safety rules.
  • Achieves financial objectives by working with senior management and finance to prepare an annual budget; scheduling expenditures and analyzing variances.
  • Maintains warehouse staff by taking part in recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.
  • Provides coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Sets direction for the facility while anticipating operational issues and develops preventative measures Manages relationships with other business units and other Department managers throughout the company and to integrate and align efforts.
  • Review revenue and costs by customer to ensure maximum profitability.
  • With assistance develop and manage within approved guidelines the facility budget; forecast for busy seasons to project operational needs (staffing, space, equipment etc.).
  • Ensuring the customers SOP's are documented and are trained and understood by the operations management team and staff.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with all customers, suppliers and agencies; coordinate and liaise with customers ensure approval is obtained in writing for any additional work to be performed which is not outlined on the contract agreement and billing is accurately reviewed and processed.
  • Direct the maintenance of warehouse facilities and equipment, ensuring the security of goods stored.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are being followed and all documentation is complete
  • Guide operations managers, supervisors on employee performance management.
  • Lead operations implementation of new business, new technologies, and material handling equipment into the facility.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Preferred 710 years supervision/Management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution operating systems, with HighJump WMS as an asset.
  • Experience in multiuser warehouse environment.
  • Familiar with large scale DC operation with more than 200,000 SQFT.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and development skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage employee conflict to a successful resolution.
  • Ability to assess talent and build development plans
  • Ability to proactively plan and organize work to accomplish goals.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience using various computer systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint).
