We are seeking a Planner/Scheduler to join our dynamic construction team.

Reporting to the Project Director, the Planner/Scheduler will collaborate with various stakeholders, including preconstruction, development and construction teams to develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and identify any potential risks or delays.

The Planner/Scheduler will utilize their expertise in project planning and scheduling and will contribute to the efficiency and timely completion of projects.

This position is based out of our head office in Kelowna, BC. Mission Group offers a flexible hybrid working environment.


What You'll Do:

  • Interface with various stakeholders including but not limited to preconstruction, construction, development, and subcontractors to plan and develop baseline schedules
  • Prepare initial baseline schedules for the purposes of developing project proformas
  • Work closely with the preconstruction and development teams to refine the project schedule through the development process
  • Develop the schedule with correct Critical Path Method (CPM) practices
  • Inform construction and project management team of critical and nearcritical activities
  • Provide an early indication of slipping activities and tasks which may impact the completion dates of the project
  • Work with project teams to develop recovery strategies if projects are delayed
  • Resource load the schedule and provide resource requirement graphs to Construction Management Team
  • Provide various lookahead plans with relevant backups to the project team(s)
  • Inform the team of alternative solutions to minimize schedule impacts as a result of changes
  • Provide ontime, regular updates (weekly and monthly) to the schedule while validating the updates through site visits
  • Provide inputs to various project reporting including investor reports
  • Responsible for estimating activity durations and schedule optimization
  • Organize the project team and the scope of work using a work breakdown structure
  • Schedule tasks in a logical manner so that lowerlevel schedule elements support the toplevel milestones
  • Establish objective means for measuring work
  • Coach and mentor project teams on best practices for maintaining project schedule and sequencing Additional responsibilities and duties as required

What You'll Have:

  • 5+ years' experience in project planning and scheduling for multifamily development projects
  • Advanced understanding of highrise concrete construction, wood frame construction and light industrial construction methods and sequencing
  • Advanced understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Working understanding in project controls including cost control, performance measurement, delay analysis and quantity surveying
  • Working understanding of change management and schedule trending
  • Skilled usage of MS Project and Primavera software
  • Experience with developing complex, multiphased construction schedules for project proformas and projects in process
  • Experience performing logic analysis, CPM analysis, resource loaded, generated work breakdown structure, earned values, cost, resources, materials, workloaded projections, S curve and cash flow diagrams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting and problemsolving skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
