**EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Fire Department - Administrative Assistant
**summer student, contract
**the Fire Department administration office. An applicant should be currently enrolled in a post
- secondary education program and returning to continue their education in September 2024.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Receive visitors and answer telephone calls, respond to general inquiries, and open
- and distribute incoming regular and electronic mail.
  • Establish, coordinate and maintain records and file systems in both computer and

- hard copy format
  • Assist with file maintenance, including Laserfiche scanning for record retention
  • Assist in daytoday operations of the administration office
  • Prepare a variety of letters, notes, reports and spreadsheets using Microsoft Word,


  • Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Completes various tasks as assigned by the Fire Chief.

Qualifications and Competencies:


  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Superior customer service skills and ability to deal with the public and staff in a
- courteous and tactful manner
  • Proficient in the use of computers and current related software
  • Selfstarter with demonstrated strong timemanagement and organizational skills
  • Must possess valid Driver's Licence
This is a contract position with a start date of June 10, 2024, and expiration date of
