Your role
As Manager, Financial Management, Inventory and Rights, you report to the Senior Director, Finance and Administration, Television. You will administer activities involved in the financial management of French Services inventory and management of associated rights. You will administer budget activities for the Schedule & Broadcasting and Acquisition departments, ensuring production of the appropriate reports. You will support Business and Rights in various matters as a Finance partner for the department. You will also manage the human resources reporting to this position.


Where planning and budgeting are concerned, you will formulate and issue strategic recommendations to senior management and all departments you serve.

You will also coordinate, consolidate, analyze and prepare surplus/deficit projections for each department.


In terms of financial management, you will supervise and monitor the preparation of financial statements for French Services inventory accounts.

This will include analyzing, commenting on and submitting the statements to senior management.


You will have to get actively involved in large-scale technological transformation projects, at the heart of the Finance and French Services strategy, that will affect your sector of activity in the coming years.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan, coordinate and supervise monthend, quarterend and yearend activities related to your areas. Help prepare the Corporation's financial statements, providing analysis and commentary. Assist and work with internal and external auditors during internal control procedures.
  • Provide expert financial and accounting advice to managers in the Schedule & Broadcasting and Acquisitions departments.
  • Analyze and comment on monthly financial reports; interpret and evaluate data, recommending any necessary corrections. Analyze trends in the financial situation; submit projections to the Senior Director, Finance and Administration, the Director, Schedule and Broadcasting, and the Senior Director, Acquisitions.
  • Plan budget administration for the Schedule & Broadcasting and Acquisitions departments. Monitor expenditures to stay within allocated budgets, explaining and justifying any overruns. Assess the impacts of schedule changes, suggesting budget redirections to ensure adequate funding.
  • Construct and supply the financial data for business plans, and coordinate the preparation of these plans.
  • Produce studies, analyses and reports for Business and Rights to support the department's strategic objectives.
  • Act as a reporting consultant for rights in the OnAir system.
  • Support the Schedule and Broadcasting department in managing inventory for independent productions.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise tracking, validation, payment and accounting activities for rights contracts.
  • Participate in the development of rights management systems.
  • Hire and manage personnel reporting to you, appraise their performance, and identify training needs.
  • University degree in finance or accounting.
  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
  • Five (5) or more years' relevant experience.
  • Advanced analytical skills.
  • Team focus and the ability to facilitate change.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Strategic vision and ability to make information clearly understandable to nonexperts, while also tying it into organizational strategies.
  • Superior Frenchlanguage skills.
  • Good knowledge of English,is an asset.
