The Opportunity


StepStones for Youth is seeking a part-time Accountant to provide support to the organization in all aspects of accounting approximately 5-10 hours per week.

This position can be on an independent contractor or hourly basis.

This includes financial reporting and analysis, month end, payroll activities, journal entries, accruals, preparation of financial statements, support budget preparation and ensuring compliance with the financial reporting calendar.


_ What you will be responsible for:_

  • Reconciliation of Class, GL, etc. of all gifts in our internal database and QuickBooks to ensure everything is aligned and accurate.
  • Prepare reports of current expenses and donation allocation to ensure funding is being used appropriately and within agreed upon timelines.
  • Work collaboratively with Program Director & bookkeeper to allocate programming expenses with QuickBooks.
  • Work with Development team to prepare budget proposals to potential funders based on current funding needs of the organization. Use internal account lines to ensure this funding is used appropriately.
  • Prepare fundraising reports for our board of directors on a monthly basis.
  • Produce documentation on projections, analysis, comparisons, budgets etc. to Board for review on a monthly basis
  • Report to the Executive Director
  • Ensure expenses are aligned with budget and expectations.
  • Provide all services within an understanding of antioppression, antiBlack and Indigenous racism, diversity, LGBTQ+ positive and antipoverty values and principles.

_What we're looking for:
_


  • Professional accounting designation CPA, CGA, CMA or actively pursuing an accounting designation (i.e. currently enrolled in a certified accounting program).
  • Knowledge of current financial regulations
  • Preferred experience in nonprofit charity environment.
  • Solid experience working with major accounting software including QuickBooks.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) with advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint.
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, selfmotivated and high degree of initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Able to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadlinedriven environment and ability to cope with changing priorities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills; accountability, reliability, and punctuality; and the ability to work effectively and independently under the pressure of tight timelines, competing priorities and emergent issues.

_Salary Range_:
$35-50 per hour
