The Product Development Lab Assistant will work in collaboration with the Product Development and Innovation team to support the team in daily functions to delivering customer requests and presentations.

The applicant should be detail oriented, adaptable, have excellent time management and prioritization skills, and most importantly have a love of food This position will report to the Product Development Manager and will require daily interactions with the rest of the Product Development team as well as internal departments including Quality Assurance, Procurement, Production, and Shipping.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Responsible for stocking of the R&D lab with ingredients, packaging and weighing materials following GMP and proper labelling requirements
  • Preparing production formulations by accurately weighing ingredients as outlined in formulation sheets
  • Preparing and packaging product samples adhering to prescribed physical parameters as directed by Product Developers
  • Coordinating and fulfilling sample requests by obtaining samples of existing items, preparing samples of new items as applicable, labelling items and preparing them for shipment
  • Assist with customer ideation presentations by gathering samples as needed, preparing mockup samples and assisting with dayof presentation activities
  • Completes analytical testing on samples including pH, Bostwick, and Brix measurements
  • Fills out applicable lab documentation including but not limited to:
  • ingredient, packaging, and finished product inventory reconciliation
- shelf life logs
- sample request forms
- product development formulations

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization or personal and common lab work areas and equipment
  • Work as a team member of the R&D team, offering assistance whenever possible

Education:
College education and/or food industry experience


Qualifications:


  • Works collaboratively in a team environment
  • Basic culinary skills would be an asset
  • Self driven
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • High energy with a positive personality
  • Passion for great food and delivering a quality customer experience
  • Basic knowledge of GMPs
  • Competent computer skills

Salary:
$40,000.00 per year
