Position Summary


Reporting to the Director, Facilities and Security, the incumbent has responsibilities at the Belleville Campus and other College campuses, and College owned or leased spaces.

Specifically, construction management related to a variety of projects and the management of ancillary and outside service contracts for the improvement, advancement and upgrades to buildings, grounds or college related programs and departments.


Working with the Project Manager, this position will manage the construction of capital projects and other smaller projects at the main campus or other sites.


This position is responsible for several major ancillary and outside contracts such as food services, all season grounds management, cleaning and janitorial services, athletics related events and facilities, as well as general events related to the position and will have a vital role in the RFQ/FRP process, contract management and compliance.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, enhance and manage a series of ancillary and outside contract services to support student, employee and the public activities. Oversee the various venders and contractors (i.e. Food Services, Grounds Management summer and winter and Cleaning Services etc ). This requires working with purchasing to tender and establish vendors of record that meet ministry directives.
  • Act as a construction manager for a variety of construction projects for the improvement, advancement and upgrades to buildings, grounds or college related programs and departments.
  • Leads in the RFP/RFQ process, design development and schematics, the construction stage through to the occupancy stage.
  • Support the Director with the management of capital projects and other smaller projects at the main campus or other College owned sites or leased spaces. The incumbent will manage construction projects and assist with budgets in the construction, commissioning through to occupancy, including moves, and/or operation phase.
  • Management of several budgets related to construction, ancillary and outside services.
  • Assisting the Director in the development of capital business cases for projects and management these projects
  • Ensuring that construction, alterations, and renovations to the college buildings are performed in compliance with applicable codes, regulations and laws.
  • Provide support with events at the College taking the facilities lead with outdoor events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two (2) Year diploma or degree in Project Management or Engineering or Skilled Trade or related field
  • Minimum five (5) year's experience working Managing Contracted Services, specifically Food Services, Grounds Maintenance and Cleaning. Experience working in an educational institution preferred
  • Experience, understanding and proficiency in project management with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, budgets and priorities successfully while maintaining high levels of quality and productivity.
  • Knowledge and understanding writing requests for quotes or pricing (RFP & RFQ) process is an asset
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and excellent researching / critical thinking / problem resolution skills.
