Data Specialist

Tenure: 12 Months Contract (1 Year Contract - Possibility for renewal based on performance)

Location: 2206 Eglinton Ave East, Suite 190. Scarborough, ON M1L 4S8

Hours: Monday – Friday (12:00PM – 8:00PM)

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000/year

Start Date: Immediately

Summary:

The Data Specialist is responsible for applying data tools to collect, cleanse, present structured and unstructured data for analysis and reporting. The person will assist in data project management with various levels of the organization.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Collect, clean and process large data sets on SAS and Python.
• Generate data and prepare various reports with excel.
• Ensure company standards and compliance.
• Log sample information and sample inventory accurately into database.
• Generate reports as requested by Operations team.
• Liaise regularly with internal team to ensure information is fully obtained.
• Contact client if datasets do not comply with SOP.
• Verify that all incoming datasets comply with in-house methodology and SOPs.
• Develop and manage relationships with internal team and clients.
• Communicate effectively with clients in case of any clarification or an enquiry in regard to understanding the datasets provided.

Required Skills:

• University degree with 1-2 years of relevant work experience (fresh graduates welcomed)
• College Diploma and 1-2 years of relevant experience
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Experience working with programming languages such as Python, R, SAS, Excel VBA, SQL etc.
• Advanced EXCEL skills and experience (Vlookup, Countif, Conditional formatting and etc)
• Experience in working with large datasets.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others for the purpose of data exchange, clarification and follow-up.
• Proficient with MS Office suite of applications along with ability to quickly learn new software applications and information systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• SPSS, SAS, or related statistical analysis software experience
• Crosstabulation software experience (e.g. Wincross)
• Tableau or PowerBI
• Econometrics, Statistics, or Mathematics background
