Do you like to focus on designing, modeling, and implementing for Cloud Radio Access Networks? Do you like working with the latest cloud technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Helm? We have an exciting opportunity for you in a fast-paced, highly collaborative technical environment.

    About this opportunity

    We are looking for fourteen (14) co-op students to join our 5G Virtualized Digital Unit team in Ottawa. We have co-op positions ranging from 8 months to 16 months. You will work with a wide network of designers, specialists and researchers across the Cloud RAN development organization in solving sophisticated technical challenges and develop innovative new technologies for our world-leading Cloud Native RAN portfolio.

    What you will do

    • Work in any of the software development areas such as Physical layer, L2/L3, Management Plane, Control plane and User plane and Interface definitions, etc.
    • Work in test simulation involves enhancing our 5G algorithm modelling/test vector generation tool and using it to generate test vector data for design validation
    • Involve in developing the infrastructure to support automated testing and developing automated test cases to test new 5G software features.
    • Work in developing/debugging software tools which support developer's needs, such as web-based tools, log analysis tools, debug tools, software management tools, etc.
    • Participate in developing and executing tests on the platform to test new 5G Cloud Native software features.
    • Develop simulation tools to test system performance of various L1/L2/L3 algorithms and benchmarking expected performance metrics.
    • Work on 3GPP NR and ORAN standards protocols and advanced 5G feature

    You will bring

    • You are currently a student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline with GPA 3.0 (out of 4) or higher
    • Good understanding of signal processing, communication theory, SW design methodology, IP Networking
    • Knowledge of MATLAB, C/C++, JAVA, Python
    • Good understanding of the Linux ecosystem and have completed projects working with the Linux kernel
    • Some knowledge of Cloud-Native core principles, DevOps and Ecosystem a plus - microservices, K8S, Docker, Helm, CI/CD (DevOps)
    • Excellent English communication skills
    • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills and possess a can-do attitude
