    Key Responsibilities

  • Provide orientation, mentorship and training for all personnel under their direction
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members and equipment
  • Control and set lay down rates
  • Ability to supervise and execute rolling patterns
  • Familiar with paving controls (Blaw Knox, Top Con, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of all equipment on-site
  • Assist and operation of equipment as project requires
  • Ensure compliance with the corporate Environmental Health and Safety program (Redbook) and governing occupational health and safety legislation
  • Enforce, discipline and document safety violations by personnel and subcontractors under their direction
  • Identify all potential changes and claims and advise Project Manager
  • Submit accurate daily labor and equipment time reports with appropriate coding
  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of company vehicle(s) assigned to them as well as all equipment in their charge
  • Recommend ways to improve production, quality and crew performance
  • Understand and use Alberta specifications
  • Other duties as required
  • Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum 7+ years' experience within the road construction industry
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years' experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of construction methods, road construction materials, and heavy equipment operation
  • Must be physically able to lift and carry at least 50lbs
  • Willing to work out of town and in remote locations, as required
  • Willing to work overtime, as required
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol program, including testing requirement
