Position Summary

The Supervisor, Recreation Facilities is responsible for the supervision and operation of the City's multiple recreation facilities including arenas, marinas, aquatics, and community facilities.

This position is accountable for the coordination of recreation facility maintenance activities, service delivery standards and project management initiatives. The Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team of unionized recreation staff.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Develops and implements standards and systems for recreation facilities to optimize cleanliness and ensure facility is maintained to a high standard.

Develops work plans, monitor quality, quantity, and completion of work according to plan and schedule.

Implements preventative maintenance programs for recreation facility specific systems (arena ice plants, pool mechanical systems, recreation play surfaces, dock infrastructure, sports fields) to improve

reliability and life of equipment and infrastructure, ensure consistent costs, reduce health and safety risks, unexpected equipment failure and downtime.


Develops and oversees audits of assigned duties and monitors record keeping ensuring compliance with legislation and City policies and procedures.

Communicate and inform staff of changes in legalisation and internal policy/practices and address concerns.

Ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with OH&SA and City policies and procedures.

Participates in the budgeting process, make recommendations regarding operational and capital budgets. Responsible for monitoring schedules, and expenditures to ensure that budgets are adhered to.

Manage contracts to complete various operational tasks.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies
Degree or Diploma in facilities management or recreation leadership or a related field.

3 years supervisory experience in a recreation facilities.

Basic Refrigeration, Certified Pool Operator.
Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and effective problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize work in a demanding environment.

Experience developing work plans and schedules.

Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment.

Knowledge of recreation facility operations and current industry standards.

Demonstrated conflict management skills and methods to reduce tension or conflict between two or more people.

Ability to research, analyze, and formulate solutions to complex issues.

Experience creating and monitoring budgets.

Valid class "G" driver's license.

Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector.
