Your Opportunity:

The successful applicant will work within the Pediatric Rehabilitation Division on multidisciplinary teams offering assessment, consultation, and/or treatment.

The age group of focus in this position is pre-school and school-aged children, although some services may also be provided to younger children (i.e., infants, toddlers) and older adolescents.

The psychologist will be involved in multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments of children with complex neurodevelopmental presentations. Differential diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a critical component of this position.

Treatment will be offered on an individual and group basis and may also involve an aspect of parent coaching and consultation.

The psychologist will also consult with community providers in order to build capacity.


Description:


As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area.

This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs.

You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations.

You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Required Qualifications:


Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).


Additional Required Qualifications:


Specialized knowledge of various physical/medical conditions (e.g., cerebral palsy, spina bifida), early development, emotional and behavioral challenges, and autism spectrum disorders is required.

Experience in both assessment and treatment of children across the age span with complex presentations is required. Experience in administration and interpretation of common assessment instruments is required (e.g., WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WIAT-III). Preference may be given to individuals who have attained research-level reliability with the ADOS-2. Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team within a fast-paced outpatient setting is required.

The psychologist must provide proof of active registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.


Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate degree (Ph.
D.) in Psychology from an accredited university program is preferred although a Master's degree with relevant experience will be considered. A minimum of 2 years' experience is preferred.
