Summary of Position:
Required to maintain or improve the overall appearance and operation of the hotel. Responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space, lobby, fitness areas, outdoors and common areas. Will also perform some repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, kitchen, and laundry equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ø Must provide excellent customer services to all patrons and guests.
Ø Responsible for maintenance operations of the hotel, hotel property, and grounds.
Ø Responds to maintenance concerns.
Ø Performs and/or monitors maintenance and preventative maintenance projects.
Ø Responds to all building related safety concerns.
Ø Maintains department compliance with hotel maintenance procedures.
Ø Supports hotel maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly and monthly checklists.
Ø Assist management in specifying proper supplies and equipment for operations.
Ø Deals with guest related maintenance concerns.
Ø Maintain the guest rooms, public space, and back of the hotel areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and tiling to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel.
Ø Develop regular maintenance procedure to monitor all electrical machinery and fire alarm equipment.
Ø Knowledge of hotel fire and emergency procedures.
Ø Other tasks as assigned by supervisor or General Manager
Qualifications:
- Previous construction or hotel maintenance department supervisory or management experience.
- At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
- Grade 12 graduate or higher.
- Should have basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry concepts.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Must be available to respond to emergencies when not physically at the job site.
- Drywall knowledge and repair.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, coworkers and vendors.
- Ability to work a variety of varying schedules.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, followthrough, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, coworkers and management to their understanding.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs.; and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes, and luggage.
