    As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to strengthen and promote health protection to patients, staff and members of the public attending in the hospital, prior to the first day of employment with the Hospital, all successful candidates are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (full vaccination is required) from the Ontario Ministry of Health website or other authorized source. An individual is fully vaccinated if they have provided proof of vaccination in the form of a receipt from COVaxON (the Ministry's provincial system for COVID-19 vaccination information) and 14 days have elapsed from the final dose. In the event that you are unable to be vaccinated as a result of a ground protected under the Human Rights Code, you may submit a written explanation of the ground and any supporting documentation to determine if you are exempt from this requirement.

    Position Summary

    Workplace Wellness Assistant
    The Workplace Wellness Assistant will support the Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness
    Department in all aspects of the development and implementation of our Corporate Wellness
    Framework to enhance the health and well-being of staff, physicians, learners and volunteers at NYGH. You demonstrate a creative and enthusiastic energy, are outgoing, love interacting with people, are passionate about promoting holistic workplace well-being, and are collaborative, organized and driven. Some of your responsibilities will include the provision of engaging wellness breaks to team members on the unit and at various sites, assisting in the planning, promotion and execution of the various wellness initiatives and events that make NYGH a great place to work.

    On a practical level, you will


    • Work with the department to develop annual requirements and goals of the Occupational
    Health, Safety and Wellness department as it pertains to staff well-being

    • Assist with the Planning of monthly events to support the wellness program initiatives as
    outlined by the NYGH Wellness Framework

    • Assist in organizing and supporting the administrative duties of the corporate wellness
    committee

    • Collect data at events and provide to senior members of the Occupational Health team

    • Develop surveys and feedback following events, this could also include statistics such as
    attendance for events or evaluation of the events

    • Support the creation of promotional materials, monthly wellness bulletins, wellness challenges

    • Support events onsite

    •Maintain relationships with external and internal individuals and organizations that support the
    wellness activities, events and initiatives for our NYGH workforce (e.g. interacting with the
    fitness repair company and managing this relationship and interactions)

    Qualifications


    •Highschool diploma

    •Bachelors degree, preffered

    •Minimum 1-year experience Assisting with a wellness program, preffered

    •Experience in Workplace Health, Wellness or fitness certificates or programs, preffered

    •experience or certifications within fitness, nutrition and mental health are a strong asset

    •Stong Communication skills, written and verbal

    •Computer skills (Microsoft products, internet, etc.)

    •able to work independently

    •Bilingualism in French/English an asset
