Description:
The successful applicant will be expected to independently carry out geophysical research projects including formulating problems, developing machine learning algorithms, identifying/compiling/working with exploration data from industry & government sources, and writing reports, papers and proposals.
Responsibilities will include:
- designing, planning and executing research projects;
- interfacing with mining industry and governmental partners;
- working with multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional teams;
- coordinating with other project leaders, PIs and collaborators;
- data analysis and reporting;
- ability to work with and train students and trainees;
- effective communication in English and assistance in preparation of scientific manuscripts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- PhD in geophysics
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience in geophysics, mineral exploration or related resource exploration problems
- 2 years experience working with supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods
- Demonstrated experience with mineral exploration technologies
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing and fund raising, publishing, attending conferences & presenting results, and project management
Skills:
- Strong computational skills are required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Due to the academic and largescale nature of the project, demonstrated experience in publishing, attending conferences and presenting results, project management and working with industry would be a strong asset.
