The initial salary for this position will start at the beginning of the listed salary range with the opportunity to advance up the pay grid in annual increments. An eligibility list may be established.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
As a supervisor, this role includes the management, supervision, and organization of staff and eMarketing operations activities.

This position reports to the Director, Digital Strategy & I.T.

and leads decisions and technical recommendations regarding the envisioning, development and effectiveness of a shared technology infrastructure that supports both Destination BC and its key partners across the Province.


This position works in strong collaboration with the Online Programs Manager, Consumer Marketing, Destination Development, Corporate Services and external partners under the premise of Destination BC's Powerful Marketing Strategy.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Evaluates requests for systems changes and enhancements and makes a determination on security risks and impacts with recommendations on appropriate action.
  • Develops the guidelines for secure information sharing within the organization, with business partners and the broader public sector.
  • Leads the development of IT policies and initiatives in order to meet the strategic needs of the organization
  • Leads the disaster planning and recovery of multiplatform operations.
  • Conducts security, threat, and risk assessments for new systems and major changes to existing systems.
  • Develops and implements the information technology management procedures and guidelines.
  • Conducts change management practices for significant systems changes by leading the development and presentation of user training and educational materials and leading client meetings to resolve problems.
  • Ensures that incidents are resolved as quickly as possible, and any corresponding fixes are implemented in a reasonable time frame.
  • Provides expertise and advice to senior management on the deployment of new computer technologies, products and services to the office facilities.
  • Ensures the support contracts with external service providers are being followed including verifying deliverables, communicating priorities, SLA compliance, ensuring integration with other support groups and other contract requirements.
  • Facilitates alignment with government I.T. policies and standards for all vendors through contractual obligations.
  • Participate in annual budget planning exercises with senior management by taking into consideration IM/IT needs for the organization and key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate, manage and monitor contracts, evaluate contractor performance and approve or terminate contracts for key IM/IT projects.
  • Leads specific IM/IT projects, defining and managing project objectives, plans, priorities, timelines, risks and resource requirements; manages project activities; resolves and addresses issues identified and approves changes as appropriate or raises issues to the steering committee for decision; manages the budget and certifies work performed.
  • Provides advice on aligning government IM/IT standards to business clients during procurement and contract negotiation phases.
