    The Canadian Finance Reporting & Analysis (CR&A) team is responsible for the internal and external reporting & control needs of the Canadian Executive team (CET), CFO, Board of Directors, and Investors.

    Reporting to the Finance Manager, Canadian Reporting & Analysis, the incumbent will be accountable for (a) supporting the month and quarter end financial close periods for SL Canada and ensuring results are accurate and complete and (b) reimagining how we work with a focus on streamlining and optimizing finance processes. Through their involvement with the Business Units (BUs) and Support Units, the individual will develop a broad knowledge of the various Canadian BUs, their products, and key metrics. The incumbent will also directly contribute towards maintaining a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team environment.

    What will you do?

  • Support in building the monthly forecast for Business Group Capital (BGC) and the quarterly Drivers of Earnings (DOE) with commentary to explain changes across quarters
  • Lead the monthly account reconciliation process including correspondence with Business Groups to obtain the support required, pulling Ledger data, etc. to prepare account reconciliations
  • Support quarter-end financial processes for SL Canada including execution of controls over key Financial Statement accounts
  • Provide support to BU's including processing security requests, COV and Ledger support
  • Manage the access review process within BGC for various Finance GL and reporting applications
  • Support the Manager on key initiatives and projects aimed to optimize finance processes across the team and SL Canada
  • Prepare and support ad hoc requests as required.
  • What do you need to succeed?

  • Hold or working towards a professional accounting designation or equivalent, with 2-3+ years of job-related experience
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail
  • Advanced MS Office applications skills; (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively organize tasks to meet tight deadlines;
  • Ability to proactively communicate well and present ideas/decisions clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Adaptable, team player with a focus on the voice of the Client
  • Assets:

  • Strong understanding of SLF Canada operations, products and services
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and tools (e.g. SAP, AFO, Tableau, Oracle, Hyperion)
  • Business knowledge and experience related to the Insurance and/or financial services industry
  • Experience in a medium to large size organization with multiple divisions and lines of business
  • Unique Requirements:

  • Some overtime during peak periods will be required
