Reporting to the Director, Events & Partnerships, the Manager, Events will support the work of a team of event professionals and support committees of volunteers that will execute Sinai Health Foundation's events, including large scale events, peer to peer fundraising events, do-it-yourself third party events and other initiatives.


The Manager, Events will represent Sinai Health Foundation, ensuring that all events and initiatives align with Sinai Health Foundation's strategic plan, that the Foundation's policies and processes are followed and that all projects are on track by
continuously evaluating and assessing activities.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting goals and measuring success for their event portfolio relative to key performance indicators: revenue goals are met, event execution is world-class, portfolio growth is on track, new audiences are introduced to the foundation
  • Inspire, motivate and manage performance of direct reports
  • Being an ambassador for Sinai Health and Sinai Health Foundation; building strong relationships with event chairs, organizers, and participants
  • Stewarding and supporting the work of volunteers and partnering with event chairs and event committees to develop successful events and initiatives
  • Advising community event chair and/or organizers on CRA guidelines, Sinai Health Foundation receipting policies and fundraising event best practices
  • Developing and managing activity budgets
  • Attending events and activities as required (includes some evening and weekend work)
  • Escalating sensitive and or challenging situations, as appropriate.

Job requirements:


  • 57 years of fundraising event and team management experience, preferably within a large dynamic nonforprofit environment. Experience as a volunteer board or committee chair, and/or as a community event organizer is an asset
  • Successful completion of a university degree or college diploma in a related field from an accredited educational institution. Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience may be considered
  • Strong understanding of executing fundraising events
  • Strong familiarity with Canada Revenue Agency's guidelines
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Raiser's Edge
  • Ability to handle matters of a sensitive and confidential nature with extraordinary problemsolving skills; an innovative, creative thinking person with demonstrated financial acumen
  • Diplomatic in managing expectations of a wide range of stakeholders
  • Selfstarter with a bias for action; solutions oriented; able to plan, organize and prioritize work while handling multiple tasks and interruptions
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, as well as independently with mínimal supervision
  • Peer to peer fundraising experience an asset
