ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:


The Federation of Canadian Artists - is a non-profit visual arts organization founded in 1941 by members of the Group of Seven.

Today with over 2,900 members, we exist to support emerging and established artists throughout Canada.

Hosting an extensive education program that is open to all artists, the FCA provides workshops, classes, critiques and lectures in the fine arts media, with instruction by successful established artists who can help all artists and the public to explore and develop their artistic interest and talent.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Education Program Coordinator plays a vital role within the organization, working closely with the Program Manager. Their primary responsibility entails the coordination and facilitation of the FCA's education and public programs.

These programs are conducted both online via Zoom and onsite at two key locations:
the Federation Academy and the Federation Gallery situated on Granville Island. The Education Program Coordinator ensures the seamless execution of these educational initiatives, promoting a conducive learning environment for participants.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work with the Program Manager to oversee all aspects of program and event planning and onsite delivery of workshops and events, including but not limited to:
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a diverse range of online and in-person education programs and events, including the highly anticipated annual Federation Retreat
  • Skillfully develop and facilitate compelling public programming initiatives, creating an immersive and engaging experience within the gallery and classroom spaces
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate instructors, summer students, and volunteers, fostering a supportive and productive team environment
  • Manage classroom rental operations to ensure efficient facilitation and seamless coordination of all rental activities
  • Manage the Federation's education communication channels, while maintaining and updating the education website to ensure uptodate and relevant information
  • Create captivating marketing collateral, such as brochures, posters, and flyers, utilizing advanced tools like Photoshop to enhance visual impact
  • Manage education budgets in close collaboration with the Program Manager, meticulously monitoring and controlling expenses
  • Craft comprehensive evaluations and reports on programming and event initiatives, providing valuable insights and recommendations for future improvements
  • Cultivate partnerships and foster community connections in support of program delivery, leveraging external resources and opportunities
  • Maintain and manage equipment and supplies necessary for event and program delivery, ensuring their availability and functionality
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Fine Arts, Arts Management, or Event Planning. Master's degree is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and event planning
  • Knowledge of education and event industry standards, and contract negotiation
  • Exceptional skills in record keeping, organization, and logístical planning
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience working with artists and community groups is essential
  • Proven success in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups, particularly adults and seniors
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and social media platforms is required
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving history
  • Fluency in English is required, while additional languages are considered an asset
  • Knowledge of video editing software is considered an asset
  • Nonprofit experience considered an asset
