    Description

    Position Summary:

    Under minimum supervision, performs warehouse worker duties. Assignments require the exercise of independent discretion, judgment and a thorough understanding of company/department policies and procedures. Employees will work both independently and as part of workgroups or teams.

    This position provides the labour required for the warehouse operations within the distribution centre.

    Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

    Replenishment

  • Keep pick-slots full; replenish line, flow racks, and bulk locations
  • Rotate inventory; this is crucial in the freezer and cooler as well as items in the dry area.
  • All movement of product must be kept track of as well as followed by the physical movement of the product
  • Place all product in proper pick-slots, never set product off to the side
  • Take damaged product to recoup area
  • Keep up to date on product changes, substitutions, and promotions
  • Freezer/Cooler Selection

  • Perform freezer/cooler selection: Accurately selecting product to be loaded on company trailers
  • Ensure proper stop sequence and construction on all pallets/carts selected
  • Ensure loading of product selected is in its proper place on the company trailer
  • Responsible for load quality and reliability
  • Put away all returns at the end of assigned shift
  • Dry Selection

  • Perform dry selection: Accurately selecting product to be loaded on company trailers.
  • Ensure proper stop sequence and construction on all pallets selected.
  • Ensure loading of product selected is in its proper place on the company trailer
  • Receiving

  • Perform receiving duties: The accurate receiving of all in-bound loads
  • Correct any labeling issues during put away or restocking that could result in errors
  • To ensure proper dock flow, work with other receivers in directing the activities of the put away team
  • Perform the put away function as needed.
  • Resolve any receiving issues before the end of assigned shift
  • Putaway

  • Perform put away duties: The accurate put away of all product
  • Place received product in reserve slots nearest pick location, unless otherwise directed
  • Rotate product in racks before placing newer product into a slot
  • As needed, break down loads to fit into company racking
  • Resolve all put away errors throughout assigned shift. Error file must be free of errors by the end of assigned shift
  • General Responsibilities

  • Change batteries in equipment as needed
  • Check and evaluate work against quality standards
  • Ensure work area is kept clean at all times
  • Organize own work to maximize safety and efficiency. Identify and correct potentially unsafe situations and conditions
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
  • Scope of Supervision and Authority

  • Responsibilities are performed with minimum supervision and communication from the Warehouse Shift Supervisor
  • Ensure the operations follow all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP)/Good Drivers Practices (GDP) for transport rules and regulations
  • Other projects or duties as assigned
  • Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School or equivalent experience and exceptional ability
  • Must be able to work in a cold or freezer environment
  • Able to repetitively lift and move heavy boxes (up to 55lbs)
  • Warehouse experience in high-volume, food-service, distribution or logistics or equivalent experience is an asset
  • Forklift and electric pallet jack experience is an asset
  • Team player
  • Good communication skills
  • Great work ethic, high initiative, self-motivation and positive attitude
  • Ability to multi-task, time management skills, detail-oriented
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • This position must pass a post-offer background check
