Overview:


As the Community Relations Specialist, you are responsible in the coordination, implementation, and advancement of the Corporation's various sponsorships and programming delivery related to community relations and road safety.

The position also collaborates with members of the Communications and Campaigns and Creative and Digital Engagement Services teams to ensure consistency in messaging across all areas of programming communications.


Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with the Road Safety department to achieve the objectives of the Corporate Road Safety Strategy, interpreting established strategies and playing an integral role in the introduction and delivery of road safety programming.
  • In consultation with the Manager, Community Relations, coordinate and deliver specific road safety programming and events.
  • Conduct post event assessments, providing feedback regarding the successes and challenges observed through program delivery.
  • Provide recommendations for programming improvement as part of the feedback process.
  • Build support for road safety initiatives through the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Manitoba Public Insurance staff and external agencies to ensure their participation in program delivery.
  • Maintain knowledge of Manitoba's charitable sector, community needs and issues, and trends that may impact the corporation's community relations funding.
  • Represent the Corporation at community, partnership and corporate events, as required.
  • Provide professional advice and consults with corporate leaders and staff in providing information regarding community relations and road safety initiatives and programs.
  • Supports the Manager, Community Relations in the research and execution of corporate sponsorships and initiatives. Provides feedback and support regarding the corporate return on investment elements.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations or a related discipline.
  • Four years of experience related to the coordination, delivery and evaluation of community relations events and programs.
  • Handles multiple tasks and prioritizes assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to present information effectively to various audiences.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with leaders, peers and vendors.
  • Working knowledge of corporate operations and policies, the insurance industry and the related regulations and acts.
  • Intermediate analytic and problem solving skills.
  • Works with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders including internal staff, community organizations, business partners, and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques.
  • Experience with webbased promotional inventory management programs is an asset.
