WORK ILLUSTRATION:


The incumbent provides support to the Emergency Management & Business Continuity (EM & BC) team (Manager and Business Continuity Management Consultants) in the development of the company's EM & BC Program comprised of emergency, business continuity, and crisis management elements.

S/he conducts research/analysis in support of program development and supports or directly manages select projects (e.g. IT projects, process/procedure drafting) to fulfill departmental initiatives and objectives.


The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Working under the guidance of the Business Continuity Management Consultant(s) and internal stakeholders, supports the design, development, implementation, and maintenance components of the EM & BC Program, including governance documents, processes/procedures, models, and tools that enable more effective disaster readiness and organizational resiliency.
  • As required, may work independently on components of larger projects or smaller projects requiring less oversight and direction.
  • Conducts research and analysis for key program initiatives and projects (e.g. IT projects, material/service procurement, etc.) including data gathering, costbenefit analysis, user requirements, etc.
  • Uses gathered/analyzed data to support the preparation of business cases and/or Requests for Proposal/Information.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of emergency preparedness programs by conducting research and analysis and recommends strategies to for program enhancements and to improve alignment with industry best practices.
  • Participates in projects and initiatives to advance the EM & BC Program.
  • Develops, implements, and delivers key program projects including emergency role training, exercises, and program audits, with the support of Business Continuity Management Consultants.
  • Conducts data and trend analysis for major incident response to identify areas for response improvement.
  • Summarizes information for review by key stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains reporting mechanisms to support incident response.
  • With the Business Continuity Management Consultant(s), supports internal stakeholders to influence business units to on the development and sustainment of incident management plans/procedures that align to the corporate EM & BC program.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • University degree in emergency management, business, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of progressive experience supporting the development of organizational emergency management and business continuity programs, organizational change management, or electric utility operations.
  • Experience with emergency management and business continuity programs, the Incident Management/Command System, and the CSA-Z1600 Emergency and Continuity Management Program standard and/or the ISO 22301 Business Continuity Standard preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ontario electrical distribution utilities, including the operational, political and regulatory environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant emergency management/preparedness legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Excellent research, problemsolving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong data management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong computer skills, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong planning, analytical and organizational skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated influence and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience in compiling and presenting reports.
Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.

Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person.

You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
