Job Summary:

A Weaver is responsible for the production of fabric in the Weave-room. Quality control and a focus on standard operating procedures are vital.

Weavers report to the Weaving Manager but must communicate on a regular basis with other Weavers, the Loom Mechanics and Material Handlers to ensure looms are operating properly.


Main duties include:

Machine Operation and Maintenance

  • Operate looms
  • Continuously monitor loom for weaving defects (broken ends/picks, bad selvedge etc.)
  • Repair broken yarns using a weaver's knot
  • Replenish empty yarn cones
  • Cut woven pieces off of loom
  • Ensure correct piece tickets are with each roll before leaving the loom

Quality Control

  • Protect product during processing, staging and storage (avoid contamination)
  • Assess product be as per training, standards and work instructions

Other Duties include:


  • Packaging, Staging and Labeling
  • Paperwork and Communication
  • Computer Use

Physical Demands:

The physical demands profile of this position and it is considered "Medium" work, which includes:

  • Walking and standing on cement floors
  • 8 hr shifts
  • Frequency of bending, reaching, lifting, pulling and pushing are dependent upon daily task requirements, but should be considered as frequent
  • Independently lift up to 30 lbs

Qualifications:


  • English Language Skills
  • Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing
  • Basic understanding and creating simple spoken and written communication in routine, nondemanding situations of language use within the four areas


  • Computer Skills

  • Basic powering computers up/down, logging on/off, mouse use (point, select, drag and drop), opening/closing programs, type letters and numbers
  • Eligible to work under Canadian laws regarding age restriction
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Willing to participate in all required training
  • Weaving or equivalent manufacturing experience

Shift


This position will begin on days for training for a - 5 month period (Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3 pm).

Once training is complete the position will move to afternoons.

  • Afternoons: Monday to Friday, 3 pm to 11 pm
