$62,436 to $83,224 per year

The HR Consultant, Talent Development is responsible for researching, designing, developing, coordinating, facilitating and evaluating training programs for general knowledge management and career planning development for SGI and SGI CANADA.

In this role, you will conduct training needs assessments, manage relationships with vendors and administers, and maintain career programming.

Key Accountabilities

Learning Design, Development and Delivery - Corporate & General Development- Responsible for planning the training schedule in coordination with other consultants; identify any concerns, conflicts with dates and escalate as required.- Facilitates training courses with the support of the HR Consultant, Talent Development and supports the re-design and advancement of current training offerings (less complex, simpler module updates under the general development category).- Reviews and redesigns existing or less complex programming ensuring proper design principles are incorporated to meet learning and development objectives.- Participates in training events as a moderator for virtual training sessions.- Creates and delivers materials to support mentorship and career development programs (i.e.

tools, templates, etc.).- Delivers mentoring programming for general employee population (non-management). Co-facilitates SGI 101 and other courses as required; independently facilitates structured learning sessions.- Evaluates and assesses effectiveness of learning in conjunction with business areas.- Conducts research into best practices to ensure knowledge remains current in the learning and development field.


Contract Management & Financial Program Support Programs- Manages the ESP Program (course reimbursement, education sponsorship, designation allowance), supports and provides direction to staff and management supporting the program and makes decisions on complex inquiries and exceptions.- Administers the corporate scholarship program, including advertising, selection and administration of payouts.- Prepares and drafts contracts and works with legal to finalize and approve.- Liaise with HR Administrator as it relates to SPO's and payment, tracking of vendor invoices.- Leads the request for proposal (RFP) process when external sourcing is required and negotiates training contracts in conjunction with the consultant responsible.- Reviews invoices for accuracy and provide approval to administrator for processing.


Career Programs- Provides guidance, coaching, resources and training to staff and management on SGI's career development programs.- Administers, maintains and updates career programming, including regularly researching, reviewing and updating content.- Designs, develops and facilitates career development training for staff, including one-on-one support for career plans.- Administers and continues to evolve the corporate mentorship and job shadow programs.

Leadership- Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.- Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.- Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.- Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.


Corporate Management- Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.- Manages risk in area of authority.- Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.


Education and Experience- Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business.- Working towards a diploma in adult education.- Three years' experience in human resources.- A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation would be considered an asset.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of adult education practices, including conducting needs assessments, designing and developing training courses and materials, and implementing and evaluating training programs.- Knowledge of HR functions and how they interconnect.- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
