Overview:


The main role of the Building Maintenance Supervisor is to oversee the maintenance of buildings and associated equipment to ensure that maintenance work is of high quality, performed safely and efficiently, and at the lowest cost to maximize equipment availability and optimize reliability.


Responsibilities:


Health and Safety:


  • Monitor and ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all contracts and work sites comply with the requirements of the Lafarge safety policy for the safety of our employees.

Work Performance:


  • The incumbent sees to the maintenance, repair and certification of lifting equipment (i.e. overhead crane, ball buckets, hoist, lifts, etc.), compressed air circuits as well as compressors and air dryers.
  • The supervisor ensures the certification of the pressure tanks, their proper use and maintenance, the maintenance of the plant aboveground and belowground tanks (water, fuels, petrol, oil, etc.).
  • The incumbent ensures that they are in good condition and that they comply with the internal and governmental standards in force.
  • In addition, the incumbent supervises all work required for the aqueduct, water retention tanks/basins, water purification stations, fire prevention, and industrial water piping.
  • The supervisor coordinates the maintenance of the factory buildings, including roofing, doors, heating, and air conditioning.

Work Plans:


  • In collaboration with the departments concerned, the building supervisor ensures the planning of maintenance work on the equipment under his responsibility and updates the latter.
  • The incumbent draws up a preventive maintenance schedule.
  • The incumbent sees to the creation and closing of work orders relating to the work under his/her responsibility after their execution and documents the history of the equipment covered by these work orders.

Reporting:


  • The incumbent shall provide his immediate supervisor with periodic reports on the planning and execution of subcontracted work and report any deviations from the preestablished work plan.

Finance and procurement:


  • Participates in the preparation of budgets and investment plans to ensure their sustainability.
  • Participates in the analysis of the expenses of his/her sector of activity and proposes, to his/her department head, the improvements required to reduce these expenses.
  • Ensures the creation of supply requests, confirms the execution of work in order to complete the receipt of invoices and payments.

Optimization and continuous improvement:


  • Participates in the development and implementation of equipment improvement projects in his or her area of activity.

Results/Responsibilities

  • Participate in the cement plant's "oncall" system.
  • Provide a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Supervise subcontractors who join the work teams.
  • Manage the terms of the collective agreement in a fair, firm, and consistent manner.
  • Close work orders in accordance with the weekly schedule in the maintenance management module. Reassign work according to priorities and emergencies.
  • Ensure that maintenance tasks meet regulations and company policies.
  • Promote good relations and communication between the maintenance and production departments.
  • Achieving personal and departmental goals.
  • Investigate, report, and implement corrective action for all incidents and near misses.
  • Provide weekly budgetrelated statistics to the Head of Service
  • Maintenance.

Relations with other posts:


  • The Building Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Head of the Maintenance Department. The incumbent is responsible for subcontracted personnel assigned to various major maintenance and upkeep projects related to his/her area of activity.
  • Works closely with the maintenance and production teams.

Qualifications:

Education and work experience:
_**- DEP in industrial mechanics, DEC in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technologies, or equivalent work experience.

  • Three to five years' experience in a similar role.
