Description
We are looking for a Physician Assistant to join our team of medical professionals. Ajax Family Practice & Walk-in Clinic is a modern and comprehensive clinic dedicated to serving the Durham community.Patient care is broad, including prenatal care, well-baby and pediatrics, adult internal medicine, women's health, mental health issues and geriatric care.
Dr.Warsame is a US-trained physician that has worked with physician assistants closely both in her practice and during her training.
The physician will ensure that the Physician Assistant (PA) participates in patient care under supervision at all times.A certain degree of autonomy with supervision may be established over time.
No minimum PA experience is required - willing to train a new PA. However, experience in Family Medicine is an asset.
Office consultations:
perform comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical examinations; perform periodic health examinations; promote wellness and health maintenance; order and interpret appropriate laboratory, radiology and other diagnostic studies.
Support continuum of care:
facilitate patient referral to the appropriate specialist or agency; advocate on behalf of patients; conduct follow-up visits on patients and updating medical histories; perform age and medically appropriate immunizations
Office procedures:
perform Pap smears, liquid nitrogen therapy, incision & drainage, knee injections, skin biopsies once trained in these procedure
Office duties:
returning phone calls from patients, handling prescription refills, counselling patients regarding scheduled treatments; maintain safe working environment by complying with policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold U.S. or Canadian BSc (PA) or Department of Defense (Military) education/experience.
Open to a new grad from McMaster or PA Consortium for Education (University of Toronto) starting late August/early September - Must be certified by either the National Commission on the Certification of Physician
- Assistants (in the U.S.) or the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada with CCPA designation and maintain CPD requirements or eligible to write the exam November 202
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation and presentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members.
- Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to learn and optimize use of the office electronic health records (EHR) system

$80,000.00 per year
