Production Supervisor, Christina Lake


The Production Supervisor role based at our Christina Lake operation is a critical member of our Operational team and directly contributes to the commercial success of MEG Energy Corp's SAGD operations.

This role provides day-to-day leadership in the areas of operations, maintenance, safety and risk management of the facility. This is a key leadership role within a multi-disciplined, collaborative team.

Your Day to Day will include:

  • Execute operations accountabilities and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with Environment, Health and Safety Programs
  • Execute facility optimization in coordination with the optimization teams, ensuring the facility safely operates at regular and peak production times.
  • Execute Process Safety Management
  • Execute Operations progression (operator competency)
  • Responsible for initial Emergency Response; fills in the absence of the Operations Superintendents
  • Deliver and meet operational, production and optimization targets.
  • Ensure operational components of the maintenance execution process are met.
  • Responsible for first response to operational upsets and managing facility technical risks.
  • Responsible for operational shift management, including appropriate management of vacation and exception time.

What you will bring to MEG:

  • 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate minimum, 1st Class Power Engineer Certificate preferred.
  • Consideration of Journeymen trades certificate
  • Consideration of individuals with Professional designation as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role, minimum 10 years industry related experience in progressive roles
  • A minimum of five years SAGD oil production experience in a supervisory role
  • Conversant with Alberta regulations governing workplace safety and environment and oilfield operations.
  • Thorough understanding of SAGD production techniques and oil treating operations
  • Experience in plant commissioning and plant trouble shooting.
  • Knowledge of co-gen power operations an asset
  • Experience in scheduling, planning, budgeting, community & labor relations and plant design.
  • Ability to use Microsoft programs effectively, including Excel and Word
  • Analytical problem solver who can analyze and provide solutions to complex issues.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to be decisive and assertive when required.
