North West Rubber is looking for full-time permanent Environmental Health & Safety and Human Resources Generalist to work in our tire recycling facility in Brantford.


As the EHS Generalist, you will be the lead contact to build a positive safety culture and drive our mission and values forward.

You will have input on health & safety functions as it relates to the delivery of health & safety activities in collaboration with the HR and EHS Corperate team.

As the HR Generalist, your key role is to to provide full cycle recruitment including onboarding and offboarding activities. You will also be responsible for providing general human resources activities.

This is a fully onsite position to partner with various positions in leadership.


H&S Responsibilities:


  • Advocate and support management of all health, safety and environmental issues driving a cultural change towards improved health and safety
  • Identifies workplace hazards through completion of risk assessments and make recommendations to address and reduce/eliminate risks
  • Conduct investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents and nonconformances
  • Chair/support Joint Health and Safety committee to develop and maintain internal audit system including actions and tracking system
  • Works proactively to develop improvement initiatives that address workplace health and safety concerns including maintaining accurate records
  • Support programs set by HR/EHS Corporate, which will ensure compliance with objectives and policy, as well as government rules and regulations pertaining to Occupational Health, Safety
  • Support compliance with all current ECA's and monthly MECP reporting requirements
  • Support compliance with Early Safe Return to Work (ESRTW) policy and manage/support any lost time incident claims/records
  • Support accident /incident investigation and initiate proper actions
  • Facilitate/support health & safety training programs

HR Responsibilities:


  • Fullcycle recruitment including prescreens, interviews, onsite tours, job descriptions, reference checks, job postings, offer letters, etc.
  • Organize, participate in recruitment initiatives such as job fairs, advertising, networking, etc.
  • Facilitate new hire and onboarding process and assist with offboarding when needed
  • Handle all administrative tasks related to the position including but not limited to status change forms, filing, etc.
  • Maintain employee files and update information into HRIS system
  • Provide coaching and support to managers, supervisors and employees regarding all HR policies and programs
  • Coordinate and track all employee training related to Human Resources and updated/new company policies or procedures
  • Participate in social committee and assist with the planning of company events
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Health and Safety or Human Resources Management
  • 2+ years of previous experience in EHS in the manufacturing sector
  • 2+ years fullcycle recruitment/HR experience
  • CRSP designation a strong asset
  • JHSC certification preferred
  • CHRP designation, or working towards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including effective listening skills
  • Solid time management, record keeping, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Reliable, confidential, and professional
  • Ability to multitask and handle large volumes of recruitment
  • Must have experience using an HRIS platform, Outlook and all MS Office tools (ADP workforce now, Bamboo HR preferred)
