WORKING SCHEDULE:

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30pm- (35 hours per week)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs technical duties related to the preparation of pathological specimens. Performs preparation of pathology specimens for further processing in cooperation with MLT and technician staff.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Selects, dissects and prepares tissue sections for further processing.
Conducts nontechnical routine laboratory procedures under the direction of professional staff.
Sets up and operates laboratory equipment in preparation for specimen examinations.
Opens, separates, numbers and arranges specimens for laboratory examination.
Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies by cleaning and maintaining quality assurance records.
Maintains a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures.
Conduct safe work practices in a Histology lab according to established guidelines and protocols.
Other duties as assigned;

SKILLED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge

Completion of Red River College first year MLT program, including the successful completion of MEDL1052: Histotechnology 1, and MEDL2052: Histotechnology 2 or equivalent
Medical terminology an asset.
