    Description

    Your Opportunity:

    Under the direction of the Manager and Clinical Supervisor and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing mental health and addiction assessment, individual and group treatment services within the context of residential addiction treatment services. The position is clinical in nature. Clinicians are responsible for providing short term therapeutic interventions, referrals and advocacy. Clinically focused liaison and consultation to colleagues within the Medicine Hat Recovery Centre and with community services providers is also required. Clinicians are required to have awareness and sensitivity to working with diverse populations. Awareness and knowledge of concurrent disorders is necessary.

    Description:

    As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews, and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Registered Occupational Therapists.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of one of the following programs: a Master¿s degree in Psychology, a Bachelor¿s degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master¿s or Bachelor¿s degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor¿s degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor¿s degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

    Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience with Connect Care.Valid Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
