SUMMER PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Riverwood Explorers, iCanBike, and Supporting Kids in Leisure and Life Skills (SKILLS) Summer Programs

Temporary Full Time hours per week

July 2nd - August 24th, 2024

Work Arrangement:
Community

Key Responsibilities:

Assist participants to problem solve, set strategies, and help them achieve personal goals by maximizing their independence in daytoday activities.
Contribute to the planning and implementation of daily activities; prepare resources and professional materials.
Assist clients with personal care routines (eg. toileting, feeding & transfers).
Promote participation in leisure activities and social skill development.
Other duties as assigned by program leads (e.g., operate transfer and mobility equipment as needed).

Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements:

Between 15 and 30 years of age;
Classification as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have official refugee protection status;
Legally entitled to work in Canada;
Experience working with children with physical and developmental disabilities;
Experience working with children that exhibit challenging behaviours;
Experience assisting individuals in personal care;
Current C.P.R, First Aid and CPI certificates are preferred;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills;
Must possess a valid Ontario driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle;
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology or Registered Nursing student preferred.
