SUMMER PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Riverwood Explorers, iCanBike, and Supporting Kids in Leisure and Life Skills (SKILLS) Summer Programs
Temporary Full Time hours per week
July 2nd - August 24th, 2024
Work Arrangement:
Community
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist participants to problem solve, set strategies, and help them achieve personal goals by maximizing their independence in daytoday activities.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of daily activities; prepare resources and professional materials.
- Assist clients with personal care routines (eg. toileting, feeding & transfers).
- Promote participation in leisure activities and social skill development.
- Other duties as assigned by program leads (e.g., operate transfer and mobility equipment as needed).
Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age;
- Classification as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have official refugee protection status;
- Legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Experience working with children with physical and developmental disabilities;
- Experience working with children that exhibit challenging behaviours;
- Experience assisting individuals in personal care;
- Current C.P.R, First Aid and CPI certificates are preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills;
- Must possess a valid Ontario driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle;
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
- Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology or Registered Nursing student preferred.
