Nunavik and the normal work schedule is on a rotation of 6 weeks: 3 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 3 weeks for rest.

Future challenges


Reporting to the Drilling and Blasting Supervisor, the Blaster's Helper will be required to support the Blaster during loading operations in the open pit and quarries.

He will also be called upon to operate certain heavy machinery used in the mining department (Bobcat, CAT 926M loader, CAT 775 truck) as directed by the supervisor.


His main responsibilities are:

  • Accomplish all explosive loading tasks assigned by the blaster in charge, according to the norms and standards in force.
  • Assist the blaster in the supervision of employees working on the loading platforms.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the inventory of explosive and nonexplosive products on the loading platforms.
  • Ensure the inspection of his equipment before and after his shift.
  • If necessary, he will assume the duties of a blaster.
  • If necessary, he will perform any other duties as requested by his supervisor.

profile required

  • Relevant experience as a blaster's helper or day labourer on a blasting team.
  • Completion of blasting training or equivalent (Training, DEP) is an asset.
  • Must be able to operate a 40T or 75T mine truck;
  • Possess a General Explosives permit and a valid driver's license;
  • Possess a high school diploma (DES);
  • Possess knowledge of the Quebec Mining Act and the Explosives Act
  • Familiarity with electronic initiation systems is an asset.
