Position Overview:


The Communications Coordinator supports SHN's academic goals by developing, planning and implementing a wide variety of marketing and communications initiatives aimed at promoting and enhancing academic?experiences, including educational activities, research, and community outreach.

The Communications Coordinator directly reports to the EVP of Education, and VP of Communications to create, coordinate, and implement high quality, innovative and effective promotions and advertising to advance SHNs community-related goals.

This role requires in-depth knowledge of social media platforms and relevant trends, exceptional professionalism and communication skills, and awareness of community needs.

Responsibilities:


  • Advocate for education and research and SHN through diverse communication channels
  • Collaborate with education and research professionals to create compelling content promoting SHN's educational and research activities
  • Facilitate partnerships between education, research, and executive entities to positively impact community healthcare
  • Work with education and research teams to effectively communicate SHN's efforts in improving healthcare accessibility to the Scarborough community
  • Support the VP of Education to ensure the highest quality promotion of research and education efforts
  • Demonstrate competency in various communication channels, including website and newsletters
  • Utilize visual content (infographics, videos) to effectively convey the impact of education and research efforts
  • Communicate initiatives with a patientcentric approach emphasizing the positive outcomes for individuals within the Scarborough community and promoting a sense of community involvement in healthcare transformation.
  • Implement interactive content strategies, such as live Q&A sessions, polls, and discussion, to encourage student and community and feedback regarding healthcare priorities.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to promote the SHN initiatives.
  • Foster engagement through social media platforms by encouraging students and community participation in healthcare discussion, surveys, and awareness campaigns.
  • Manage and schedule social media post via Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a communications, marketing, or similar role
  • Indepth knowledge of social media platforms and emerging trends
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and relationshipbuilding skills
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Detailorientated with excellent organizational skills
  • Awareness of healthcare and communityrelated issues in Scarborough
