    City University of Seattle in Canada is looking for a qualified Associate Program Director to join its outstanding team of faculty and staff in the School of Health and Social Sciences, Vancouver Campus. Ideal candidates are registered psychologists with clinical experience, counselling professionals registered with BCACC or a registered governing body, or clinical counsellors with a doctoral degree. This position is vacated by maternity leave and will end in Spring 2025. Further employment opportunities will be considered based on interest and performance.

    City University of Seattle's School of Health and Social Sciences is one of the lead producers of counselors for Washington State and British Columbia, Canada.     Job Summary:

    The Associate Program Director assists the Academic Program Director in ensuring the quality and integrity of the Master of Counselling program at the Vancouver Campus. Provides proactive student support, develops teaching faculty, participates in curriculum and course development, teaches core courses, and actively engages in academic governance.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches two courses per year within compensation.
  • Support students and faculty of the Saturday program.
  • Fosters and promotes teaching excellence. Provides orientation, training, mentoring, coaching, and evaluation for practitioner faculty.
  • Proactively supports students to become responsible, ethical, self-directed professionals.
  • Engages in the scholarship of teaching and learning, as well as applied or original research.
  • Participates in developing a curriculum that aligns with the CityU Academic Model and focuses on the application and current practice.

  • Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • A registered psychologist, mental health professional with clinical experience, or clinical counsellor with a doctorate (preferred) in counselling or psychology or with a Master's degree in psychology, counselling, or clinical social work.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration clinical experience. Over five years preferred.
  • Registration with a regulatory body consistent with the field of practice.
  • Experience in higher education management and adult education an asset.
  • Ability to address student academic-related issues and concerns in support of retention and student success.
  • Culturally competent to serve a diverse study and faculty body
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing in a creative, fast-paced in-person and virtual environment.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Must relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities.
  • Ability to present a professional image for academic school and CityU.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and learning management systems in support of quality teaching and learning.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support virtual teaching and internship duties.
